Illegal Gateway Exchange Raided in Faisalabad

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its ongoing efforts to curb the menace of illegal grey trafficking, carried out a successful raid in coordination with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), today. The raid was carried against illegal VoIP setup operating at Block Razabad, Bazaar no. 1, Faisalabad.

During the raid, a huge illegal grey traffic setup was recovered. The team recovered nineteen (19) operational illegal gateways and approximately 5,000 SIMs along with other allied equipment including 11 routers, 4 smartphones, 14 internet devices and 18 laptops etc. Three persons were arrested and further interrogation is underway.

The successful raid against the grey operators was made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic thus curbing the loss to national exchequer due to these illegal grey traffickers
