Pakistan to Host APICTA EXCO 2020 Meeting

Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards were held in Ha Long, Vietnam from 18th to 22nd November, 2019. During the closing meeting of the APICTA Executive Committee (EXCO) at the Awards, it was announced that Pakistan will do the honours of holding the next EXCO Meeting in Islamabad for the APICTA Member economies.

APICTA, as a not-for-profit and apolitical organization, is an alliance of national ICT organisations representing 17  Asia Pacific (APAC) economies (Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Mayanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam & Japan) to build and enhance a mutually cooperative network to promote ICT, enhance technology innovations, capability and adoption, and encourage the development of indigenous ICT solutions for the global market. APICTA’s mission is to provide the platform to catalyse and recognise indigenous ICT innovations and to stimulate economic & workforce development, trade relations and technology collaboration in the Asia Pacific region.

Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) EXCO representatives, Syed Ali and Badar Khushnood, highlighted on Pakistan’s continued improvement in the ease of doing business, the ease of travelling for foreigners through the new online visa  process and an increased focus on tourism and hospitality. The safety & security situation has also significantly improved in Pakistan making it an ideal location for building business partnerships and growth. The P@SHA representatives welcomed both the APICTA members as well as other associations and leading technology companies and organizations of the APICTA economies to visit Pakistan with their EXCO members to explore  potential synergies and collaborations with Pakistan origin companies and businesses The upcoming EXCO meeting 2020 set to be held in Islamabad will be APICTA’s 62nd. The last EXCO meeting held in Pakistan was in Lahore in 2012.
