According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Naqeeb Khalid, a Pakistani Origin Doctor based in Toronto, Canada has used his brain smartly and introduced an instant Covid-19 Diagnostic test using a Smartphone.

Dr. Naqeeb Khalid led the Development of Smartphone Based diagnostic test for Covid-19 as a Director of Medical Device Programme at the Montreal based Two-Photon Research Inc.

In a Video Conference, the High Commissioner to Canada Mr. Raza Bashir Tarar not only congratulated Mr. Khalid but also said that the idea of the Covid-19 test being displayed and communicated by the smart phone was novel and laudable.

The High Commissioner also expressed the hope that such a quick, hassle free, accessible and affordable invention would benefit the people around the globe to overcome the current pandemic.

The clinical trials of this innovation would not only pave the way for necessary approvals but would also prove its efficiency for the Covid-19 test before being put to use at the mass level, He said.

Mr. Najeeb Khalid, the brother of Dr. Naqeeb Khalid having his background in broad range of engineering and science disciplines also collaborated and helped his brother in making this innovation.

The High Commissioner conveyed his best wishes to both Khalid Brothers, Dr Naqeeb Khalid and his brother Najeeb Khalid.

Dr Naqeeb Khalid, an Alumni of King Edward Medical University, told the High Commissioner that before acquiring experience in invention of medical devices and systems, his innovation was based on a digital platform that displayed the result instantly on any smartphone and can also communicate or store the results along with time and GPS information.

A smart phone App will be available for download from the AppStore. “Instant, accurate and low-cost testing that does not rely on laboratory testing is essential in containing the pandemic and together with vaccines, we can control the Covid-19 outbreak and return our lives and economies to normal,” said Najeeb Khalid.
