Students present business ideas at Hult Prize competition held in Karachi

KARACHI: The Hult Prize – a flagship global competition, was held at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi. The theme was ‘Food for Good.’ The participating teams of IoBM students shared business ideas to reduce food wastage. The competition crowd-sources ideas from all universities and college students from different countries.

Talib Karim, President IoBM in his welcome note, praised the initiative and said that it will add value to IoBM’s efforts in developing entrepreneurs. The ten student teams from IoBM selected to present their ideas for the Hult Prize were mentored by leading corporate icons of Pakistan. The Keynote Speakers were Ali Mukhtar (CEO, Fatima Gobi Ventures) and Shaista Ayesha (CEO, Seed Ventures). The judges included Dr. Owais H. Shaikh (Startup Mentor, Founder Institute), Tehmina Chaudhry (MD, INSTA Foods, Canada), Muhammad Nabeel (Founder Edvon Robotics), Syed Azfar Hussain (Program Manager, National Incubation Centre- Karachi), Madiha Shamim (Co Founder HR Ways), and Rehan Muzammil (HoD Entrepreneurship Department, IoBM).

Shaista Ayesha CEO- Seed Ventures said, I really appreciated the opportunity to attend the conference as a Key note Speaker. It was a great success! IoBM Management & the organizing team did a fantastic job! Congratulations.

Ali Mukhtar CEO- Fatima Gobi Ventures said, “I want to express my gratitude for the invitation that I received and congratulate for the high level of commitment and the professionalism which made it possible to gather the participants and industry experts and develop all the activities with success. 

Hult prize is the flagship yearly event of IoBM and a lot of passion & effort goes into making it a reality. Previously in 2018, it was a huge hit. This year has been a challenging year for startups and professionals alike. As responsible citizens, we made a decision early on to make Hult Prize Finale a virtual event. This has not only keep the participants and speakers safe but also open the doors for national and international judges residing in different cities and countries, Said Anum Shakeel, Strategic Advisor to Hult Prize- IoBM Chapter.

Sohaib Amir (Vice Curator Global Shapers, Karachi- Global Shapers Community), Talha Bin Afzal (Acting Secretary General, P@SHA), & Naureen Hayat (Co-Founder, Tez Financial Services) were the Guests of Honor. Dr. Shujaat Mubarik, Associate Dean, IoBM, presented the closing note and appreciated the organizing committee’s efforts to present such a thought-provoking online event during challenging times.

Shafaq Karim (Campus Director – HP)and Ali Karim (Executive Director -HP) congratulate the winning team “The Zest” and wished them best of luck for the Regional Summit.
