Three Pakistanis receive Queen’s Young Leaders award

Three young Pakistanis received the prestigious Queen Young Leaders award for their community service at a ceremony held in the British capital.

Haroon Yasin, Hassan Mujtaba Zaidi, and Mahnoor Syed received the award in a ceremony presided by Queen Elisabeth II.

The awards are given to young leaders from across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Carribean and Americas.

Hassan Mujtaba is the founder and executive director of Discovering New Artists, according to their website. DNA is a non-profit organisation set up in 2011 that provides free education to underprivileged children.

Mahnoor Syed created the start-up, Spread the Word to provide workshops and has worked with Khwajasira Support Program.

Haroon Yasin is chairman of Orenda that uses technology to provide innovate models of learning to underprivileged children, according to their website.

The award is bestowed on deserving young individuals who make positive contributions to their communities. Youth across the Commonwealth are conferred the award based on their services to their respective communities or countries
