Two Young Leaders from Pakistan Contesting for the Commonwealth Youth Council Elections

Two young leaders from Pakistan, Danish Tariq, and Sania Haider are contesting the Commonwealth Youth Council Elections (2021-23) and are aspiring to get the executive positions among 40 candidates.

The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) is the official representative voice of the more than 1.4 billion young people in the Commonwealth which aims to further advance the youth development agenda by integrating young people into the development work.

Danish Tariq is contesting for the position of Vice Chairperson Inclusion and Engagement of the Commonwealth Youth Council. He has intensive experience in youth development, meaningful and inclusive youth participation, informed decision making, and policy advocacy at National, Regional and International level. He is looking forward to building the mechanism to be in connection with the National Youth Delegates and the National Youth Councils through the regional representatives in each country. He seeks to engage marginalized communities, all the young people despite any differentiability, a minority group, and other excluded groups to be included in all decision-making processes and activities of the commonwealth to make a vibrant image of inclusivity and become a catalyst for the commonwealth’s way forward. Sania Haider is vying for the position of Special Interest Representative at the Commonwealth Youth Council as she brings more than eight years of grassroots and international youth leadership experience in peace, education, sustainable and inclusive development and seeks to expand the scale of her work for the 1.4 billion young people of the Commonwealth and build partnerships to advocate and work for issues pertaining to marginalized young people to foster the goal of an inclusive society. She believes that all youth should be treated equally and fairly, irrespective of their ethnicity, gender, race, faith, place of birth, and economic status and she pursues to work with extensive support from member states, affiliated observer members and the CYC networks for synchronized and organized interventions.
