KARACHI: Malaysian player Lim Kok Leong has become the World Snooker Champion for the year 2022 after beating Amir Sarkhosh of Iran in a one-sided final 5-0 played here at the Sueno Hotels Beach Side in Antalya, Turkiye today.
Lim was the 15th seed for the knockout stage and reached the final after defeating S. Shrikrishna of India (4-2), Antoni Kowalski of Poland (4-2), and Babar Masih of Pakistan (5-3).
Pakistani cueist Babar Masih earned the bronze medal. Babar beat Indian opponent Brijesh Damani and made it to the semi-final. He then lost to Lim Kok Leong in the semi-final.
Pakistani cueist Babar earlier beat Indian opponent Brijesh Damani. He won four frames as opposed to Damani’s one by scores of 88-10, 71-45, 88-5, 60-37 and 74-58 to make his way into the semi-finals of the event.
