Punjab Government Extends Winter Break as Cold Weather Persists

LAHORE: Winter vacation in Punjab schools has been extended till 19th January 2024 due to cold weather conditions, the Punjab interim government announced Wednesday.

The vacations are extended only for the students of class one and below, the government notification read. In an announcement, Punjab interim chief minister Mohsin Naqvi said classes for school students in Class one and below (Nursery, Prep, and KG) will remain suspended for one week.

The government announced additional holidays for young learners as the Met Office predicted cold and dry weather across Punjab and fog is expected to prevail in the region.

Punjab Winter Vacations Update

Punjab CM Naqvi said the government decided to also postpone exams after the death of dozens of children due to pneumonia.

Earlier, Punjab government announced change in schools’ timings and now classes are starting at 9:30 am from January 10 till January 22.
