700 Islamabad Students to Receive Hi-Impact IT Skills

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to equip students with cutting-edge IT skills, the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program (PMYSDP) is set to provide training to 700 students from 16 government-run colleges in Islamabad. The three-month program aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring the youth remain relevant in today’s job market.Led by the caretaker education minister, a meeting discussed the initiative’s details, highlighting its focus on artificial intelligence, data sciences, and blockchain technology. Education Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry emphasized collaboration with relevant bodies like the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to formulate effective strategies.The program, scheduled for this summer and to be completed by August, will select students through a competitive process. It’s part of the broader PMYSDP, which aims to provide skill-based training to 56,000 students across the country this fiscal year.During the meeting, the inclusion of women, transgender individuals, and differently-abled students in the program was emphasized. NAVTTC Executive Director Muhammad Aamir Jan highlighted the project’s progress, including courses like IT, hospitality, and languages, now offering international certification.The Federal Directorate of Education will collaborate with esteemed institutions like the National Skill University and Comsats to implement the program, aiming to empower youth from all walks of life.
