Toddler of Kashmir

Letter to EditorToddler of Kashmir

Few days ago a heart wrenching picture went viral on social media in which a toddler sitting on his grandfather’s chest seeking world’s attention. His grandfather was killed by Frustrated Indian army in Indian held Kashmir. It illustrates how India has incepted the savagery on innocent kashmiri people. United nations remained quite, no attention, no press release, no action has been taken yet. According to United Nations the Kashmir is a disputed territory. After Separation of Pakistan and India in 1947 the status of Kashmir remained unanswered, and this exacerbated the border tensions between two.  Later on United nations security council passed a resolution on Kashmir in 1948 in which UNSC urged both countries to settle their dispute through peaceful means so that peace and order could be restored in region. It suggested that the issue should be decided through the widely accepted democratic method of free and impartial plebiscite. But no plebiscite conducted yet and UN seems not more then a spectator, and this leniency resulted in revocation of Kashmir’s status and killing of innocent Kashmiris simultaneously. Therefore Pakistan should request United nations security council under article 35 of the UN Charter, which allows the member nations to bring to the attention of the UN on matters endangering international peace.
