A symbol of Peace – Imran Khan’s domineering address to the General Assembly

OpinionA symbol of Peace – Imran Khan's domineering address to the General Assembly
By: Malik Arsalan Awan

The Indian rulers have suffered many setbacks on the political and diplomatic fronts, but in the recent session of the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again effectively presented the case of Kashmiris to the international community.  Since then, the Indian media itself has not understood how to deny the Pakistani position based on this statement.  It may be recalled that the way in which the rulers of Delhi have taken 8 million people hostages in occupied Kashmir is unprecedented in history.

The right of Kashmiris to self-determination is being suppressed through Indian military occupation which is not acceptable in any way.  Imran Khan further said that we want peace and order in the region and in this regard, we are working for reforms in Pakistan. Mentioning the Indian atrocities, the Prime Minister reminded the world that Modi was involved in the massacre of Muslims in Gujarat.  He was directly involved. In this context, he said that the ideology of RSS is dominant in India and this ideology of India is promoting Islamophobia in the world which is a poison for world peace and order.  As a result of this Islamophobia, Babari Masjid was martyred.  In the context of Kashmir, the Prime Minister further said that India was repeatedly violating UN resolutions and changing the proportion of population in Kashmir was a war crime.

It has been always true that when oppression rises it also disappears aswell and that dawn of hope will shine bright upon the Kashmiris pretty soon.

Who does not know that the Modi government is ruthlessly persecuting Muslims to make India a Hindu state? Moderate observers have said that the intelligence agencies of India, Israel and a few other countries are engaged in a plot to spread anarchy in Pakistan. They are trying to stage new anti-propaganda campaigns to give the impression to the international community that Pakistan and some of its agencies are in fact promoting global terrorism. Speaking of Palestine, the Prime Minister, while unequivocally supporting Palestine, said that Pakistan is in favor of a two-state solution in Palestine. The whole world is well aware of the fact that Pakistan’s strategy has been peaceful since day one and it has been adhering to the principles of coexistence that it still adheres to today, but unfortunately in the case of India, it has found a neighbor that has never missed an opportunity to harm Pakistan from the beginning. Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his views on the situation in Afghanistan at the General Assembly forum and said that the only solution is peaceful talks. Taking a clear stand on Kashmir, he said that now the Indian rulers who can explain to him that why Indians call freedom fighters as terrorists. The final decision in this regard is made by history and the decisions of the time are generally correct. The Indian rulers have started playing the game of state terrorism. It has been always true that when oppression rises it also disappears aswell and that dawn of hope will shine bright upon the Kashmiris pretty soon. The final curtain has now drawn upon the night of tyranny brought upon by the merciless Indians. It would be appropriate for the Indian government to read the air of the current situation as soon as possible. That would be a good thing for regional peace. With every year that passes, each report, reach statistic and each picture that is born out of Kashmir dehumanizes the people and the violence perpetuated by the Indian government goes unchecked. However, each case stands as proof of the fervor with which Kashmiris fight for their rights and their freedom in the face of immense opposition. India will have to let the Kashmiris decide their future. Anything short of that will ensure that violence continues and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s exhilarating speech wasn’t short of any of that.
