Attended by Youth from around the globe, Global Peace Summit held in Malaysia

With the theme of “Disarm Hate, Discrimination, Extremism, Revulsion; originate Cohesion, consonance, Harmony, and Love”, Gathering peace activists from around the globe, Global Peace Summit was held in Kuala Lumpur from 26-29 Feb 2020.

The summit was organized by Global Peace Chain (MAPS) – an organization working to tackle extremism, hate and discrimination by engaging young peacebuilders.

This year Global Peace Chain selection committee received hundreds of compelling and enterprising applications, the Committee chose over 140  individuals of exceptional record that have demonstrated their passion in building peace and working for Sustainable Development Goals to ensure a surpassing future.

Global Peace Chain envisions to build resilience, cultivating the culture of tolerance, inclusivity, interfaith harmony, co-existence, love & social peace-building across the border through peace camps in educational institutions, interactive sessions, peace talks with society stakeholders, diplomats, ambassadors, influential community groups, UN officials, religious scholars and community-based organization across the globe by engaging Global Peace Ambassadors.

By holding its narrative of highly inclusive and worldwide Peace endorsing Organization, the summit provided a platform for youth around the world to contribute to the global discussion. The panel discussion session topics were very relevant with the ongoing socioeconomic global issues and the delegates around the world felt immensely empowered & energized as they have a big role to play in practising & promoting peace in their communities.

All of the international delegates contributed to the petition of Global Peace Chain which demands cease-fire and revokes of military actions and set the table of talk and dialogues to resolve conflicts.

While addressing during the summit, Director Programs Global Peace Chain Muhammad Ahmad Said, “Peace is the responsibility of every individual and each effort to sustain it, is worth-praising, we all need to strive for a peaceful world and counter violent extremism, every kind of discrimination and initiate togetherness, love and harmony”

By elaborating the mission of the Global Peace Chain, Director of Organization Kamran Zafar said, “We intended to inculcate the sense of cohesion, acceptance, interfaith harmony and love into the youth from all over the globe as peace is the dire need of the world”
