ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized that providing international standard IT education to the youth and increasing the budgetary allocation for the education sector were the government’s top priorities.

In an interview with a private news channel, he stated that the upcoming budget for fiscal year 2023-24 would create more employment opportunities for the youth in the IT sector. The government plans to introduce multiple IT-related projects aimed at enabling youth to earn a livelihood while contributing to the country’s productivity.

Iqbal affirmed that the government was dedicated to utilizing all available resources to improve various sectors, including education, in order to address current challenges. He assured that unemployment would be tackled by providing technical education and vocational training to the youth.

The minister further stated that efforts were underway to ensure equal distribution of resources among the youth, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who aims to empower young people through gainful employment and meaningful engagement.

To combat unemployment in the region, the government is introducing new IT-based projects targeted at the youth. These projects, aimed at providing technical training and fostering a startup environment, will be included in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) with significant investment in the upcoming annual fiscal budget.
