Selling plasma, the role of government

Letter to EditorSelling plasma, the role of government

There is a huge increase in the number of COVID-19 affected patients. Fortunately, more than forty thousand patients are recovered. Plasma from the COVID-19 recovered person has been proved as an effective treatment for serious patients. In this time of the pandemic, some people have made it an opportunity and started selling their plasma after recovery from COVID-19. According to the report of The Guardian, plasma for one patient is being sold around 200,000 to 800,000 rupees. As a Muslim in this time of need, we should be donating plasma, but the public find it as an opportunity to make money out of people’s misery. The government should make plasma-donation centres all over Pakistan, where plasma should only be collected from donors free of cost and provided to seriously ill patients. In this way, people will not be forced to buy plasma to treat their loved ones.
