It’s important to empower women for national progress, President Arif Alvi

ISLAMABAD  (17th September 2018) :President of Pakistan Arif Alvi in his maiden address to the joint session of parliament said its important to empower women for national progress. “We need to provide education and job opportunities to young women. Without their empowerment, no nation can progress. Our women are exceptionally hard workers.”

“We respect women and following our norms, women should be free to participate in jobs and opportunities. Measures would be taken for the provision of vocational training to young women.”

President also discussed the environment issue in his maiden speech he brought the lawmakers’ attention to the current climate crisis faced by the country as Pakistan is 7th most vulnerable country to climate change

While commenting on the continuation of parliamentary democracy in the country, said: “Pakistan’s parliamentary system has been a victim of instability due to various reasons. However, that the fact that past three governments have been able to complete their terms is encouraging.”

President also emphasized on need of education reforms in the country.

The president also said that economy is one of the most prevailing issues of the country as the scourge of corruption has plagued it. “Our balance of trade is ebbing. Last year, our trade deficit was Rs36 billion – the highest in Pakistan’s history.”
