Lions’ murder: Who is responsible?

By: Asem Mustafa

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board is responsible for the deaths of two lions, said the Islamabad High Court , Chief Justice, Honourable Justice, Justice Atharminallah.

These remarks are a clear message that the prevailing system is having people who have no right to be there and are burden to national resources and national exchequer and probe should be made to check their living beyond means.

The government which has little time for its poverty struck public which runs in millions should spare a little money to project its soft image globally and it involves wellbeing of ‘but a few animals.’

The callous approach of the zoo authorities who were compelled to comply with the court orders displayed their displeasure and their resentment. The court compliance, result appeared in the news and two lions including the oldest lioness of the Marghzar Zoo were no more.

The viral video shows how the lion pair was beaten with sticks and fire was used to make them move to the cage which resulted in suffocation and claimed the animals lives. The trauma caused to the lions is one thing, the sickening video shows the sadistic approach of the zoo authorities who mint gate money everyday but have no tranquilizers, to transfer the creatures.

The dead lions have opened up a ‘pandora box’ lives are lost but it is hoped and believed that culprits will be identified and will be held accountable.

The unrestrained and unstoppable murders in the zoo go unchecked and when the check was made the killing spree got an impetus to cover the tracks which are now as clear as a day.

The government which has little time for its poverty struck public which runs in millions should spare a little money to project its soft image globally and it involves wellbeing of ‘but a few animals.’

Kaavan from Pakistan has given enough embarrassment in the past and it was not the government but people appointed by the government who brought shame and now it is time these people should take the exit.
