TV Anchorperson Mureed Abbas shot dead in Karachi over financial dispute

Bol News anchorperson Mureed Abbas was assassinated in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Karachi on Tuesday night due to financial clash. Police officials while citing initial details told that he was killed during a fight over a monetary dispute in Khayaban-e-Bukhari area. According to initial report, his friend Atif Zaman who has to payback his amount allegedly killed him.  Zaman called the victim at local hotel on Khayaban-e-Bukhari, murdered him, and run away. Abbas friend Khizar Hayat along him also received two bullets in the same incident. However, Police said the Zaman tried suicide attempt and he is admitted in hospital and his condition is very serious. Anchor’s wife video has gone viral on social media and she claimed that Zaman called her husband at 8 pm to collect 5 million rupees he owed.   

“We had invested our money in his business and he [Zaman] wasn’t giving it back to us and others, he would always make excuses,” she said.

Sindh Chief Minister Mr Murad Ali Shah who is currently on Iran visit has taken the notice of this incident and order Sindh IG Police Dr Kaleem Imam to submit the initial report. He had also telephonic conversation with chief secretary on this issue.  He also condemned the incident and instructed to ensure law and order in the city.
