Transgender Activist receives Youth Icon Award

ISLAMABAD: Chanan Development Association provided Youth the opportunity to introduce themselves as change makers and peace builders at its two day youth peace festival held this year at National Assembly of Pakistan Islamabad and Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services. Along with other young leaders, CDA provided transgender youth the opportunity to introduce themselves and issues of their community at 12th National Youth Peace Festival 2022 in Islamabad. The festival was jointly organized by SDGs Secretariat in National Assembly. This opportunity also proved to be a milestone to boost the confidence level of trans youth and enhanced their motivation to play a role in peace making and peace agents.

Saro Imran – A transgender activist from Multan, South Punjab received Youth Icon Award 2022 by Channan Devellopment Association. The award was given on her services for the trangender community and human rights. Special Assistant to PM on Youth Affairs Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Convener SDG’s, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam. Currently she is working with khawaja Sira Society.

The 12th National Youth Peace Festival provided a platform to changemakers to interact with other young people from diverse backgrounds and cultures from all over Pakistan.
